Description

Christmas SEL Would You Rather Write the Room Activity — an engaging movement-based activity that builds social awareness, thoughtful decision-making, and meaningful reflection.

Overview

This Christmas SEL Write the Room Activity combines movement, meaningful decision-making, and guided SEL discussion. Students travel around the room reading each Would You Rather prompt, choosing between two realistic social options that tie into gratitude, kindness, empathy, and respectful choices.

What sets this activity apart is the built-in structure for reflection and discussion. With optional writing and guided questions, students move beyond simply choosing A or B — they learn to explain their thinking, consider someone else’s perspective, and explore why classmates might make a different choice. This is where the deepest SEL growth happens.

Use it as a Christmas warm-up, movement break, SEL lesson, counseling activity, or a no-prep plan for schedule changes during holiday weeks.

Age-appropriate dilemmas with an SEL lens (kindness, empathy, gratitude, problem-solving).

  • Circle + Quick Write: restate the choice in their own words
  • Circle + Quick Write + Reflection: add a brief explanation for deeper thinking
