Want Halloween lessons that feel seasonal without turning the week into filler? This bundle gives you four complete, one-period ELA experiences for grades 9–12. Each resource uses a different setup - an auction, a Gothic survival game, an emergency broadcast mystery, and a literary-character inference game - so you can use all four across October without repeating the same activity.
Each lesson is designed for approximately a 40-minute class period. No required common text or outside reading is needed for the bundle.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
1. Cursed Object Auction
Students work in teams with $600 in fictional money, bid on six mysterious estate lots, and discover each object's hidden provenance only after bidding closes. Once the curses emerge, teams decide what to keep, destroy, sell, or give away.
2. Would You Survive Gothic Literature?
Students become one fictional heir trapped inside Blackthorn Hall. Across five rooms, teams make hidden choices, track Dread and Clue totals, and ultimately earn one of six possible endings.
3. The Last Broadcast
Students become the emergency relay team at a local radio station while routine alerts turn increasingly strange. They log evidence, revise a working theory, decide whether the signal deserves their trust, and write the final public warning.
4. Literary Séance
Teams receive one unnamed literary spirit and work through three staged manifestations. Students form an initial theory, use the Spirit Directory after the first clue, revise as new evidence appears, and finish by writing a short Message from Beyond in character voice. No prior reading of the ten featured works is required.
