“I was brain-drained at the end of the quarter and struggling to write prompts for an assessment. This resource gave me the right jumping off point and I was able to modify it for my own purposes.”
For Calculating Hourly Wages and Overtime Pay Pixel Art
While I absolutely enjoy this resource, I had some initial difficulty getting my students to actually be able to work on it individually. First, it is online only through google slides; so, I made a copy as instructed. However, the mistake I made was sharing that copy with all of my students. When they accessed it, they were all editing the same copy. I had to make a copy for each of my students and share it with them individually. Second, I had to give each student editor permission (I only missed this step twice). That being said I do love the resource as it self-checks, enabling students to get a 100% and complete the picture. I plan to us it again.
Reply from Surviving in Secondary
Hi Velma, thank you for letting us know you liked this resource. Typically, once you create your own copy, we recommend sharing that through your schools Learning Management system and then there is typically a spot to click that creates individual copies for students. Hopefully that can streamline that process for you for future use!

Hi, Thanks for your feedback! The font size is 14, which is fairly standard. I'd check to make sure your printer is printing the document at full scale. In terms of grammatics, we referrenced a current medical terminology textbook popular with school districts. We also double checked this against online resources/hospital websites. If you have any specific concerns, please reach out to us via email at hello@survivinginsecondary.com. Thank you!

Mostly straightforward... I have not use scavenger-style activities before, so it took me a minute to understand how to connect one answer to the next. My students discovered one typo - a word phrase should have implied minus, or the corresponding answer equation should have read as a "+." We figured it out and moved on. All in all, the students were engaged and had a blast moving around the classroom. Most students were able to complete the activity in 35 minutes. It was very easy to grade the correct answers by their sequence.

For Congruent Triangles Two-Column Proof Error Analysis for Geometry
On the outset, this looks like a great resource, but save your money. There are many typos and errors in the proofs that aren’t intended to be corrected (the answer key doesn’t acknowledge the mistakes), formatting is weird, and there is an inconsistent use of fonts. I bought this expecting to use it straightaway, but with each class I had to preface that on such-and-such question there was an unexpected error. Waste of money.

For I Spy AI: Creative, Engaging Lesson to Address ChatGPT & Artificial Intelligence
I recommend this resource aligned with Common Core Standards. This resource offered diverse look at ChatGPT with text excerpts helping students cite evidence effectively (RI.1). Additionally, it fostered engaging and respectful discussions - almost turned into a debate (SL.1) and through the exit ticket and discussion prompts the group activities promoted students' ability to respond to and build off of others' ideas with respect (SL.1d). It's user-friendly, editable, complete, and easy-to-understand instructions for various grades. It's an invaluable aid for experienced and novice teachers alike and even Subs! This I-Spay resource enhanced academic skills, but also cultivated an inclusive classroom environment. Don't miss out on this exceptional piece; it's a game-changer for sure and was super fun to watch the students have a productive struggle thinking through their options! :-)

For Minerals and Their Everyday Uses Maze Worksheet
My students really love the mazes. I let them work in groups of two and the discussions can become very lively when a student is trying to persuade their teammate to agree.

I used this to end our Cheese Tasting Lab once students completed the taste testing portion. They found it fun and entertaining. They worked together to finish some of the harder questions. Thank you!

For Biology Keystone Review Disappearing Act - Whole-Class Review Game
The idea of this game is very clever and clearly took quite a bit of work to prepare. Kudos to the creator. I was excited to use this activity as part of a Biology EOC exam review day. It is a novel format which helps create interest in the middle of testing season when my students are seemingly tired of almost everything except free time. First period was great, and second went okay too, but it was a flop in third period because students had realized that the icons always lead to the same outcomes. From excitement to disappointment, all before lunch. If you are considering buying this- be aware that you cannot edit the questions (not a perfect match for my standards), you cannot add to the 10 questions (so it is a quick activity), and it has limited re-playability if your students (like mine) talk to their peers in other sections.

Hi Ashley, Thank you for sharing your experience! We are so glad that you found the resource creative and that it was effective in your first two class periods. We are sorry that it was not as much of a hit in your later classes! We will keep in mind the desire for more questions in future versions of the resource!
