10-Part Activity Breakdown

Part 1 – Mission Briefing: Students are introduced to the case involving patients experiencing symptoms related to the issue such as joint pain, reduced movement, etc.

Part 2 – Background Reading: Students build foundational knowledge about the body system impacted.

Part 3 – Evidence Log: Students examine 10 detailed evidence cards. The cards have images, charts, text, and diagrams. There are two versions, one set with images and one without.

Part 4 – Suspect Ranking: Students rank possible causes of the issue (muscle overuse, undercooked food, insulin resistance) and justify their reasoning using scientific evidence.

Part 5 – Pathway Tracking: Students trace how injury develops i.e. source → tissue damage → altered movement → whole-body impact.

Part 6 – Impact Analysis: Students analyze how the issue impacts the body and daily function.

Part 7 – The Big Question: Students explain how a localized problem can develop into a system-wide health issue.

Part 8 – CER Writing: Students construct a scientific argument using Claim–Evidence–Reasoning.

Part 9 – Solutions & Action Plan: Students propose personal, community, and medical strategies to support recovery and prevent future injury.

Part 10 – Reflection: Students reflect on how habits and recovery affect long-term body system health.
